Background economy of Ho Chi Minh City is diverse in fields , from miningfisheryagricultureindustrial processing, construction to travelfinance</ a>… Economic structure of the city, the state sector accounts for 33.3%, the non-state sector accounts for 44.6%, the rest is the foreign-invested sector. Regarding economic sectors, services accounted for the highest proportion: 51.1%. The rest, industry and construction accounted for 47.7%, agriculture, forestry and fishery accounted for only 1.2%.

Infrastructure investment in Ho Chi Minh City is not commensurate with its economic role due to the proportion of budget that this city retained and decreased. The city industry is now moving towards high-tech, more economic sectors.

Traffic

RoadMid-year statistics 2017 shows the city has nearly 7.6 million motorcycle (accounting for 1/3 of the number of motorbikes in the country) and about 700,000 cars, while the total population is 13 million. Traffic congestion affects development economic and is one of the city’s challenges.
In recent years, the city’s road infrastructure has undergone dramatic changes. Currently, the city is connected to the region via two main highways: Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway. In addition, the National Highway and the Gateway Highway have also been significantly expanded, such as the route Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard (South Saigon), Hanoi Highway</ a> (di Bien Hoa) and East-West Boulevard same Thu Thiem Tunnel</a > pass Saigon River. The city also invests in many large bridges to reduce the traffic load to the suburbs, typically Phu My BridgeSaigon Bridge 2 and Thu Thiem Bridge.

Traffic in the inner city, due to the rapid population growth, weak planning, small road system… makes the city always face the problem of congestion. The city has 239 bridges, but most of the width is smaller than the width of the road, making it difficult for traffic. Not only that, part of the bridges have low tonnage or are in poor condition. In suburban districts, the road system is still mostly dirt roads. Meanwhile, the remaining paved road system has also become overloaded and needs repair.

The city has 2 intercity bus stations distributed at the entrances: The EastWestern region with a few auxiliary bus stations at District 8</ a>, An Suong and Ga Crossroads</ a>. The network is capable of receiving over 1,200 vehicles/day, transporting nearly 41,000 passengers/day to the provinces South Central CoastCentral HighlandsSoutheast of VietnamMekong Delta</ a>. Many private car companies are also involved in transporting passengers to unofficial terminals in many inner-city areas, near residential areas and tourist centers. Also according to data from  1994, the total number of intercity passengers passing through the city is about 106.4 million number of people/year, most via National Highway 1 .

Road ironTraffic  The city’s railway includes inner city lines and surrounding areas managed by Railway Union 3 Enterprise, North-South route and some dedicated road sections, currently mostly as discontinued. There are two main train stations in the city: Tsunami</ a> and Saigon. Besides, there are also some small stations like  Di An, < a title=”Thu Duc Ga” href=”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga_Th%E1%BB%A7_%C4%90%E1%BB%A9c”>Thu Duc, < a title=”Ga Binh Trieu” href=”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga_B%C3%ACnh_Tri%E1%BB%87u”>Binh Trieu, Go Vap. Because the railway network is not directly connected to the ports, the facilities are old, so the railway traffic in Ho Chi Minh City is not developed, accounting for only about 6% of the volume of goods and 0.6% of the volume of passengers. guest.[135]

Road waterwayThe city currently has an intercity passenger waterway which is a hydrofoil route connecting Nha Rong Port with Cau Da Port, Vung Tau City. There are also about 50 wharfs, ferry for passenger traffic, the largest of which is  Cat Lai Ferry</a > connecting city Thu Duc</ a> with district Nhon Trach, province Dong Nai.

Ho Chi Minh City area has 4 main seaports: SaigonBen NgheNha BeTan Cang with the river ports of Binh Dong, Tan Thuan, Ton That Thuyet, Binh Loi, Binh Phuoc… Saigon Port is one of the largest ports in Vietnam, accounting for 25% of total cargo volume through the seaports of the country. Ben Nghe Port is located downstream Saigon River< /a>, 32ha wide, total wharf length 528m, can accommodate ships with a tonnage of 15,000 – 20,000 tons to dock. Although the capacity of the ports of Ho Chi Minh City is large, the transition between land, sea and river traffic is difficult. At most river ports, due to lack of equipment, manual loading and unloading is still required.
