Infrastructure investment in Ho Chi Minh City is not commensurate with its economic role due to the proportion of budget that this city retained and decreased. The city industry is now moving towards high-tech, more economic sectors.


RoadMid-year statistics 2017 shows the city has nearly 7.6 million motorcycle (accounting for 1/3 of the number of motorbikes in the country) and about 700,000 cars, while the total population is 13 million. Traffic congestion affects development economic and is one of the city’s challenges.
In recent years, the city’s road infrastructure has undergone dramatic changes. Currently, the city is connected to the region via two main highways: Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway. Many private car companies are also involved in transporting passengers to unofficial terminals in many inner-city areas, near residential areas and tourist centers. Also according to data from  1994, the total number of intercity passengers passing through the city is about 106.4 million number of people/year, most via National Highway 1 .

Road ironTraffic  The city’s railway includes inner city lines and surrounding areas managed by Railway Union 3 Enterprise, North-South route and some dedicated road sections, currently mostly as discontinued.
